Cheyney Comeback Falls Short

Box Score Cheyney fell 94-91 to defending PSAC Champion East Stroudsubrg (6-1:3-0) to even their record at 3-3:1-2.  Jason Sabb led Cheyney with 24 points while team mates Brandon Norfleet chipped in 18, Deshawn Curtis16 and Rashaad Slappy 15 and 10 rebounds. 

The Warriors were led by Duane Johnson’s 25 points.  Terrance King and Whis Grant added 20 apiece.
 
With the game tied at 30 the Warriors went on a 16-4 run over the final 4:14 of the first half to take a 46-34 at intermission.  ESU was able to extend the lead to 18 points midway through the second half before the Wolves made a valiant come back. 

Trailing 65-47 the Wolves went on a 14-0 run to cut the deficit to four with 9:25 to play.  However, the Warriors were able to bring the lead back up to 10 with 1:39 to play.  Cheyney cut the lead to four after a pair of Keith Mobley free throws with 20 seconds showing on the clock.  The Wolves then forced a turnover but could not convert and were forced to foul.  ESU's Johnson made a pair of free throws push the margin back to six before Sabb drained a three pointer in the closing seconds. 

The Wolves are back in action Sunday afternoon against Lincoln in the Battle of the Firsts.  Game time is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
