For the second straight game the Wolves started slow and could not recover as Cheyney (5-8:3-6) fell to Mercyhurst (10-5:6-3)77-55. Jason Sabb and Jayvon Beaty led the Wolves with 20 points apiece.

The Wolves struggled shooting the ball as they made only 5-27 shots in the first half. Mercyhurst showing no ill effects from a short night as the played at West Chester last night, had the shooters touch all afternoon. The Lakers made 26-42 attempts including a blistering 15-21 in the second half.

Cheyney fell behind 9-0 but was able to score the next six however, the Lakers answered with an 18-4 run to bring the lead to 27-10 with just under three minutes to play in the first half. Cheyney was able to cut the lead to 12 at the break thanks in part to four consecutive free throws by Sabb in the waning seconds. Sabb ended the game going a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe. A Sabb three pointer six minutes into the second half brought the lead down to 11 but that would be as close as the Wolves would get.

Luis Leao led the Lakers with 24 points.

Cheyney travels to Millersville on Wednesday night. Game time is slated for 7:30 pm.
