Box Score

Cheyney (5-7:7-9) earned a hard fought 68-59 victory over a depleted Kutztown (2-10:3-15) team that only dressed six players while only playing five the second half.

Six minutes into the contest, the Wolves found themselves down 10 but were able to regain their composure and prevail. The Wolves used a 14-0 run capped by a Brandon Norfleet lay-up to take a 22-18 lead. Norfleet and Rashaad Slappy scored seven each during the run. Cheyney however was able to take a 33-29 lead into the locker room.

The Wolves despite shooting 64 % in the second half had a hard time putting away the Golden Bears. With 8:42 remaining Cheyney was still clinging to a one point lead, 50-49. Cheyney would score the next six points to stretch the lead to seven and slowly began to pull away.

Five Cheyney players tallied double figures. Chris Burney netted a career high 10 points while Calvin Brown and Jayvon Beatty also chipped in 10 points. Norfleet led the charge with 15 while Slappy chipped in 13.

Kutztown's Mich Fraction led all players with 31 points.

Cheyney is back in action on Saturday at 3:00 pm at Mansfield.
