Wolves Let One Slip Away

Box Score

Deshawn Curtis led all scorers with 23 points and team mate Jerrod Johnson added 18 but it wasn't enough as the Wolves fell 69-65 to Millersville.

The Wolves played without head coach Dominique Stephens. Coach Stephens was being recognized by North Carolina Central University. It was 25 years ago the Stephens as a player helped guide UNCC to the most lop-sided Division II men's basketball championship.

Stevens turned the reins over to Assistant Coach Dawud Morris. Under Morris's charge the Wolves jumped out to a 15-2 lead. The Marauders did not score a field goal until the 10 minute mark. However, Millersville turned up the pressure in the final minutes of the half and were only down two, 29-27 at the break.

The Marauders kept up their full court pressure and outscored the Wolves 28-5 over the first 10 minutes of the second half. Still trailing by 15, 66-51, the Wolves went on an 11-0 run of their own cut the deficit to four, 66-62 with :14 left in the contest. After the Marauders Tyree Smith drain a pair of free, Mecheal Greene answered with a three-pointer for the Wolves with :04 to play. Cheyney was forced to foul and Smith converted one of two from the line to put the game out of reach.

Brandon Brown came off the bench to lead the Marauders with 14 points.

Cheyney will travel to league leader and nationally ranked East Stroudsburg on Wednesday night.
