Deshawn Curtis netted 18 points while Jerrod Johnson came off the bench to tally 12 but it wasn't enough as Cheyney (2-10) fell 54-44 to Mercyhurst (6-6).

With the game tied at 13, the Lakers went on a 9-0 run. However the Wolves were quick to answer back. Cheyney went on a 14-0 run of their own to turn the deficit into a five point lead before settling on a 29-27 lead at the break.

Through the first four minutes of the second half the Wolves were able to extend the lead to seven, 36-29, their biggest of the afternoon. The Lakers answered with an 11-0 run to grab a 40-36 lead with 11:20 to play. A traditional three-point by Calvin Brown trimmed the lead to three at the 7:20 mark but the Wolves would not get any closer. Mercyhurst scored the final six points of the contest for the margin of victory.

Andy Hoying paced the Lakers with 11 while Jean Onana added 10.

Cheyney is back in action tomorrow, Sunday at 3:00 pm. The Wolves will host Edinboro in a make-up contest that was originally scheduled for Friday but was postponed due to a snow storm that hit southeast Pennsylvania.
