Box Score

Kevin Larkin scored 23 points, it was the sixth time this season he scored more than 20 points in a contest to lead Cheyney.  The freshman has tallied double figures in every game this season.  Jerrod Johnson netted 16 points and Charles Ayetigbo tallied 13 in an 89-82 loss to Shippensburg (10-8:6-8).

Cheyney (1-18:0-14) shot an impressive 58% in the first half and while jumping out to a 23-10 lead seven minutes into the contest.  Shippensburg was able to battle back and cut the deficit to seven, 40-33, at halftime.

In the second half, the Shippensburg sharp shooters caught fire as the Red Raiders shot 15 of 20 from the field and 21 of 26 from the charity stripe.  Just for good measure they every 5 of 8 from three-point range.  A 9-0 run in the early stages of the second half changed the tide of the contest.  The spurt turned a Cheyney six point advantage into a Shippensburg three point lead.  A Larkin three-pointer, knotted the game at 45 but a 16-5 run by the Raiders gave Shippensburg their largest lead of the afternoon.  Cheyney however still had a lot of fight left in them as they answered with a 19-8 run to tie the game at 69 with just under six minutes to play.    But Shippensburg would not roll over as the Raiders answered with a 14-4 spurt of the next four and a half minutes to take an 83-73 with 1:33 to play.  Cheyney was able to cut the lead to five but would not get any closer in the final seconds.

Dustin Sleva paced the Red Raiders with 22 points, the 6-7 freshman was a perfect 8-8 from the field and 2-2 from behind the arc.

Cheyney steps out of league play on Monday night to host the USciences at 7:30 in Cope Hall.
