Wolves Snap Skid

Kevin Larkin and Jerrod Johnson combined for more than half of Cheyney's points as the Wolves defeated Mansfield (7-13:5-11) 86-77.  Larkin continued his streak of double digit performances with 23 points while Johnson netted 20 points.  Charles Ayetigbo and Imir Bailey added 10 points apiece as Cheyney (2-19:1-15) grabbed their first conference win of the season.  The victory snapped an 18 game skid. 

Trailing by one, 35-34 with 3:31 to play in the first half the Wolves scored the final six points of the half to take a 40-35 lead into the locker room.  Mansfield was able to cut the lead to two (40-38) before the Wolves went on an 8-0 run to push the lead to double digits for the first time.  Cheyney was able to stretch the lead to 14, (68-54) with 8:41 to play after Eugene Lett drained a three-pointer.  The Mounties would not go away quietly as they scored the next 11 points to slash the lead down to three, 68-65.  But a 9-1 run by the Wolves pushed the advantage back up to double digits with 1:30 to play. 

Joe Bell paced the Mountaineers with a game high 34 points. 

Cheyney is schedule to make up their contest with USciences on Monday at 7:00 PM in Cope Hall.  The previous date was postponed because of weather last Monday.
