Aerie DeJesus continued her strong start to the season, with a career-best matching 15 points with six rebounds, but the road weary Cheyney University women's basketball team fell to Division I University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) 76-46 in a non-conference game Tuesday afternoon inside the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.
DeJesus connected on 5-of-8 from the field and continued her hot shooting from beyond the arc this season with a 3-for-5 performance.

Marlon Herring came off the bench scored a career-high eight points and grabbed a team-leading seven rebounds.
The Wolves (0-4) were playing in its third game and four days including traveling to western Pennsylvania over the weekend, and then to Maryland to face the Hawks (2-3) on Tuesday.
Cheyney kept the game tight through the first 20 minutes, and trailed by only four at the half by a score of 29-25.
The Wolves trailed 26-16, with 2:38 left in the second period, when a jumper from Ellis ignited a 9-to-1 run, with a personal seven point run by herself. A free-throw by the Hawks was followed by two free-throws from Ellis, then a three-pointer from Ellis, and two from the charity stripe from DeJesus cut the deficit to two at 27-25. The Hawks scored a basket with 31 seconds remaining to close out the first half.
UMES scored to open the second half, but DeJesus answered back for the Wolves. A quick 5-point run pushed the Hawks lead to nine, once again Cheyney answered with a three-pointer by Ellis to cut the lead to six at 36-30 with 5:34 left in the third period.
UMES scored the next six points to increase its lead to 42-30, a three from DeJesus cut the lead to nine, but the Hawks took over from there to build the lead to 49-35 going into the fourth period.
Cheyney gets a much needed break and is off until it heads to Lincoln University, Pa. for the Battle of the First with The Lincoln University on Wednesday Dec. 2 at 6:00 p.m.
