CHEYNEY, Pa. – Evan Phoenix scored 19 points and grabbed 19 rebounds and Zay Jackson scored 23 of his game high 26 points as visiting Gannon downed host Cheyney University 81-48 in men's basketball PSAC crossover action Sunday afternoon inside Cope Hall.
The Wolves (0-5, 0-2 PSAC E) could not control Jackson as he connected on five three- point shots in the first half as the Knights (1-1, 1-1 PSAC W) carried a 40-19 lead into the half-time break.
Cheyney could not get going offensively as no player scored more than six points in the game.
Derrick Clanton provided a little spark late in the contest and finished with six points three steals and two assists in his Cheyney debut. Fr. Jalen Branch made his first career three-point shot and a season –best five points and two steals.
Rafiq Marshall and Basir Fulmore both tallied six points with Marshall dishing out a team-best three assists.
Cheyney is off for the Thanksgiving break and returns to action with a non-league game at Bowie State on Monday Nov. 28.
