WEST LIBERTY, W.V. - Cheyney men's basketball opened the 2017-18 season with a 139-63 road loss at West Liberty University Friday night in the first game of the MEC/PSAC Challenge inside the ASRC Athletic Complex.
So. Zahir Stewart led the Wolves with 15 points and grabbed six rebounds, R-Sr. Imir Bailey was the only other Cheyney player to reach double-figures with 12 points.
The Hilltoppers had eight players reach double-digits in scoring and connected on 24 three point shots, to only one from the Wolves.
Jr. Amir Boney and R-So. Jeff Lewis each grabbed seven rebounds to pace Cheyney.
The Wolves committed 36 turnovers while West Liberty countered with 33 assists in the game.
Cheyney takes on Charleston, who played against Seton HIll on Friday, at 4:00 PM on Saturday on the final day of the CIAA/PSAC Challenge.
