LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Yasmine Dorrielan scored a game-high 18 points and Giannia Hill added 17, but it was not enough as host Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, defeated the Cheyney University women's basketball squad 74-66 to capture the Battle of the First Thursday night inside Manuel Rivero Hall.
Dorrielan pulled down a team-high 8 rebounds and registered five blocked shots for the Lady Wolves (1-6), who trailed by only a point 23-22 late in the first half.
The Lions (3-3) closed the half on an 11- 2 run to take a 34-24 lead after the first 20 minutes.
???????Cheyney was not able to cut the deficit below nine in the second half, until closing with a 12-3 run to make it a 74-66 final.
Hill recorded six steals, five rebounds and three assists, Jamyra Maye scored 13 points and added three steals and three steals, Marlon Herring finished with 11 points and seven rebounds and TaKayla Ellis registered a team-best five assists with three steals two steals and seven points.
???????Teira Pendleton matched Dorrielan with a game-high 18 points for Lincoln with seven rebounds, three assists and three steals, Michelle Fitzgerald recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and matched Hill for game high with six steals.
???????Cheyney will finally have its home-opener on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 1:00 p.m. vs Pitt. Johnstown and will host IUP on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in PSAC Crossover action inside Cope Hall.
