CHEYNEY, Pa. – Sr. Khaalis Carter came off the bench to score 16 points, but visiting Millersville University closed the game with the final six point to come away with a 79-75 victory Saturday afternoon in the season finale inside Alfred Cope Hall.
Jr. Rafiq Marshall, who led the Wolves (2-24, 2-20 PSAC E) with 19 points and seven assists, made two free-throws to put Cheyney ahead 75-73 with 59 seconds remaining. Marcus Adkison, who led all scorers with 22 points tied the game with on a jumper and put the Marauders (8-17, 7-14 PSAC E) in front to stay with two free-throws with 13 seconds left on the clock.
The Wolves honored three players Basir Fulmore, Carter and Imir Bailey at half-time, who were all playing their final game at Cheyney.
Cheyney trailed 69-57 when Bailey made an old fashioned three-point play at the 7:12, carter hit a jumper them connected form downtown a jumper by Fulmore made it a two point game and following a Millersville free-throw, Carter capped a 13-1 run with his fourth three-pointer of the afternoon to tie the game at 70-70 with 3:42 to play.
A basket from the Marauders was answered with and Olin Ugo layup and Bailey put Cheyney ahead for the first time in the game with a free-throw after Millersville tied the game with a free-throw, Marshall gave the Wolves their largest lead of the game at 75-73 with two from the line. The Marauders closed with the final six points to secure the victory.
All three seniors had strong outing for Cheyney: Fulmore scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field with six assists four rebounds and a block. Bailey pulled down a game-high nine rebounds, seven points, three steals and two assists and Carter made 4-of-7 from beyond the arc en route to a season-high 16 points with two assists two steals and a rebound.
