ROSEMONT, PA. – Cheyney University volleyball headed to Rosemont College on Saturday morning, and ending up splitting two contests in the tri-match that included a victory over Manor College, inside the Rosemont College Community Center in Rosemont, Pa.
The Wolves (1-4) picked up its first win on the year with a sweep (25-5, 25-5, 25-16) over the BlueJays, who were opening their season on Saturday.
Freshman Kennedy Jones served nine aces and registered nine kills, while classmate Tania Hall dished out 18 assists with seven aces and sophomore Jireh Kelly was credited with eight kills.
In the opener, the Ravens, (3-5, 0-1 CSAC) out of the CSAC, captured two wins on the day sweeping both matches, (25-16, 25-12, 25-12) over Cheyney
Hall reached double figures with 10 assists, had a team high five aces added four digs, senior Veronica Martin also recorded four digs in the match and had two kills.
Kelly led the Wolves with five kills, Jones chipped in with four kills for Cheyney.
Up next Cheyney travels to Penn State Abington on Tuesday night at 7PM.
