CHEYNEY, PA – Cheyney University men's basketball opens 2023 on Saturday afternoon as it welcomes Queens, (NY) College to Cope Hall with the tipoff scheduled for 3:00 PM inside Cope Hall.
The 2-10 Wolves closed out 2022 with a 76-53 loss at Daemen University on December 30. The Knights, a Division II school from Queens, NY play out of the East Coast Conference, are 4-9 on the season and have dropped five straight games all coming at home. Queens last win was at Daemen on December 4.
It's the second meeting in history between the Wolves and Knights. The first meeting, also took place inside Cope Hall, ended with a Knights victory on January 6, 2020.
Freshman Jalen Boyd-Savage 19.5 points per game leads Cheyney in scoring, while sophomore Kian Nixon also averages double figures scoring 10.2 points a game and is tops on the Wolves pulling down 6.9 rebounds a contest.
Sophomore Sunnie Diamond paces the Knights tallying 13.6 PPG, senior William Ellis scores 11.4 ppg. and senior Tyler Carey averages 10.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and has recorded 38 blocks second most in all of Division II.
