Cheyney University

Alicia Mackey joins the Cheyney University Women’s Basketball Team as the 2017-2018 Senior Intern. 

Alicia is a senior at Cheyney University majoring in Recreation and Leisure studies originally from Wilmington, Delaware where she graduated from Concord High School. 

Her passion for basketball shines on and off campus. She works at the Oscar Lasko YMCA and The Global Leadership Academy South West in Philadelphia PA where she mentors and runs after-school athletics and teen counseling programs Not only is she a mentor to the youth and teens over at the YMCA and GLA but is a shining face for the YMCA’s and Delaware’s AAU Basketball programs ball programs. She Coaches 6th-grade girls, 15 and under boys and assists with the 14 and under boys. During her AAU coaching time she has won 2 Championships and have topped the charts in many Chester County Tournaments.

Alicia will be completing her 480-hour internship with the women’s basketball team where she will gain a lot of knowledge in coaching and running a collegiate athletic program.

“I? would’ve never imagined being apart of such a wonderful program, but an even better family,” says Mackey. 

Alicia’s Leadership will shine during her time as an intern for the Cheyney Women’s Basketball Team.
