Amber Genwright begins her first season as an assistant woman's basketball coach at Cheyney University for the 2017-18 season.

A familiar face to all at Cheyney, Amber, who had a stellar four-year career on the basketball court at Cheyney made her presence felt early in her career. In January of 2014  she was chosen as PSAC East Freshman of the Week, following a career-high 22-point performance in a victory over Lock Haven.

Genwright went on to ink her name several times in the top ten of the CU NCAA women's basketball record books:

  • #4 all-time with 258 made free-throws
  • #5 all-time with 365 free-throw  attempts
  • #8 all-time with a .707 free-throw shooting percentage
  • #9 all-time with 181 assists
  • #9 all-time with 97 games played


The Chester, Pa. native, was a Cheyney University tri-athlete from 2013-2017, also participating in track and tennis, who graduated in May of 2017 with a Bachelors degree in Biology Health Professions.. 

In High School, Amber led, Sanford Prep to back-to-back state championships, was name a Delaware "All State" recipient, participated in the  Delaware "Blue Gold" all star game and was a Delaware "Top 10 North" selection in 2012.
