Cheyney University Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, Annette “Big Moe” Rodgers ‘14 returns to her alma mater as a member of the women’s basketball coaching squad for the 2017-18 season.
Head Coach Tammy A. Bagby, who is entering her second season as the leader of the Lady Wolves, is excited to have Rodgers be a part of the program.
“When you find someone who enjoys giving back to the community, you want them to be a part of what you are doing, Coach Moe is that person. Bagby continued, she is a Cheyney University Alumni who bleeds ‘Cheyney Blue’ her passion for the game of basketball is unmeasurable. It is my honor to have Coach Annette “Big Moe Rodgers on my staff.”
Rodgers is also extremely excited about her return to Cheyney, “with the blessing of Coach Tammy Bagby and support of Cheyney University I will give it everything I have to bring Cope Hall back to standing room only.”
Rodgers, who was inducted into the Cheyney University hall of Fame in 2010, was an integral part of Cheyney women’s basketball team from 1987-1990, and also played volleyball at Cheyney.
“Big Moe,” averaged 25 points and 19 rebounds a game at Southern High in Philadelphia, and then made an immediate impact at Cheyney averaging over 13 points and seven rebounds in her first year.
The two-time first-team all-PSAC forward, had an historic season in 1989-90, while leading the team to a 19-9 record and a trip to the PSAC tournament semifinals.
Rodgers went on to become one of most decorated players and establish her name throughout the Cheyney and PSAC record books.

Annette, who has dedicated her life to helping others, volunteers as a group leader at Shelter Plus Care though Horizon House.
She lives in Philadelphia and enjoys Bible Study and worship at The Sanctuary Fellowship and Beacon House Ministry Worship Center.
