Box Score Cheyney and West Chester tangled on the volleyball court for the final time this year with the Golden Rams coming away with a 3-0 victory. It was the second time this season that WCU blanked the Lady Wolves.
Breanna Joseph paced the Lady Wolves with nine kills. Kennetha Wallace was credited with 12 digs and eight assists.
In the first set the Lady Wolves played inspired. "We continue to get better every game," stated head coach Joan Braid. "We are playing great defense." The set was tied at nine until WCU ran off five unanswered points to take control. The Golden Rams went on to win the first set 25-13. The second set was all West Chester as the Golden Rams sprinted to an 11-1 lead coasting to a 25-11 victory. The Lady Wolves continued their roller coaster in the third set. Cheyney and West Chester were knotted at 11 until the Golden Rams ran off five straight points. Cheyney was able to cut the deficit to three on two separate occasions (17-14 and 22-19) but could not get any closer. WCU went on to win 25-21.
Julie O'Brien led the Golden Rams with 18 while Annalee Halbert was credited with 19 assists. Lyndsey Iacobelli recorded a team high 21 digs.
Cheyney will hit the road this weekend with contests at Pitt-Johnstown on Friday night and at Lock Haven on Saturday afternoon.
