Danbury, Conn. - Cheyney University Sr. outside hitter
Chelsea Hutson (Phoenix, Ariz. / Apollo) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Corvias Division II Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 9, as announced by the league offices on Wednesday.
Hutson is the first Wolves athlete to earn ECAC Player of the Week accolades this season and the honor marks the first-time a Wolves Division II volleyball player has been chosen in school history.
On Tuesday, Hutson was selected as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), Southeast Division, volleyball Athlete of the Week.
Hutson recorded double-digits in kills in all three matches this week, for the first-time in her career, while swinging at a .329 clip, and amassing 38 kills and 17 digs.
The week for Hutson opened with a 15 kill, only one error and five dig performance, as Cheyney swept Bowie State, on Wednesday. The senior then registered 13 kills and seven digs as the Wolves won the opening set, against Lock Haven on Friday, before falling in four sets.
Hutson closed the week with 10 kills and five digs, (while eclipsing the century mark during the 2016 season in both kills and digs), in a loss on Saturday to Pitt.-Johnstown.
Cheyney opens a six-match road swing at Millersville, on Friday night, with the first serve scheduled for 7:00 PM.
