SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Cheyney University women's volleyball team continued its road trip with a visit to Shippensburg to face the host Raiders and Ursuline College Saturday afternoon inside Heiges Field House.
Cheyney (2-15, 0-9 PSAC SE) led 10-9 in the opening set before ultimately falling by a 25-19. The Raiders (17-3, 6-2 PSAC Cent.) also captured the final two sets to secure the victory.
In the second match of the day Ursuline College (14-7) was victorious in three sets over the road weary Wolves, who played at Millersville on Friday night.
Sr. Chelsea Hutson led Cheyney with 12 total kills and 19 digs, So. Virshawna Campbell added eight kills and 17 digs and So. Alaiya Cave recorded seven kills and a team-high 3.5 blocks.
The freshman duo of Mary Flores and Bryanna Taylor tied for the team-lead with 10 assists each, and Sr. Akia Harris accounted for 17 digs.
The Wolves head to Bowie, Md. on Tuesday Oct. 18 for a 7:00 PM start with the Bulldogs. Cheyney took the first match with Bowie St. inside Cope Hall earlier in the month.
