CHEYNEY, Pa. – The Cheyney University volleyball team honored its three seniors before the match and then put up a spirited effort against visiting East Stroudsburg University, but the Warriors prevailed in three sets in the season finale for both squads inside Alfred Cope Hall Saturday afternoon.
The Wolves (3-24, 0-18 PSAC SE) said goodbye to seniors Nishay Carrier, Chelsea Hutson and Akia Harris in a pre-game ceremony.
Harris registered a season high 21 digs while adding a kill and an assist. Hutson finished the day with seven kills, seven digs, two aces and an assist. Carrier closed her career with two digs an assist and a block assist
So. Virshawna Campbell led all players in the match with 10 kills and 10 digs, while Fr. Bryanna Taylor set up 24 assists, (one shy of her career-best of 25), and added 11 digs. Marking the first time either player registered a double-double in PSAC action and the third double-double of the season for each player.
So. Alaiya Cave registered eight kills with one block and one block assist. Fr. Melissa Lamson-Linsdsey was credited with one kill and one block assist
The Warriors (14-18, 6-12 PSAC SE) captured the match by scores of 25-18, 25-12, 25-23.
