CHEYNEY Pa. – Cheyney University women's volleyball opened its season on Saturday as it hosted a non-conference tri-match with Long Island University-Post (LIU-Post) and Nyack College inside Cope Hall.
The young Wolves (0-2) fought valiantly and showed promise, as their play improved as the day progressed, but were swept in both the first and third matches of the day.

Virshawna Campbell pounded down nine kills, in the final match of the day vs Nyack (1-1), and 14 overall in the two matches. Fr.
Mary Flores registered 14 assists against
Nyack and totaled 21 on the day. Fr.
Bryanna Taylor added 10 digs and eight assists and Fr.
Melissa Lamson-Lindsey contributed with five kills as all four players made their debut at Cheyney.
Sr.
Akia Harris led the Wolves with 24 digs and Sr.
Chelsea Hutson recorded 14 digs and eight kills.
LIU-Post (2-0) went a perfect 6-0 in sets by sweeping both matches.
Cheyney returns to action on Thursday night, Sept. 8, when it heads to Wilmington, Delaware for a non-conference match with Goldey-Beacom.
