Hines-Allen Tops 1,000 in Loss at ESU

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.- Cheyney University Senior forward Kyra Hines-Allen went over the 1,000 point plateau with a layup with 8:30 remaining in the third quarter, but the Wolves, dropped a 96-60 decision at PSAC East foe East Stroudsburg University Saturday afternoon inside Koehler Fieldhouse.

Hines-Allen finished wtih 21 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Amber Genwright matched her for team-high with 21, and it was a season-high in points for both. Freshman Ceani Beaden pulled down a season-best seven rebounds for the Wolves (2-9, 0-7 PSAC East).

The Warriors (4-7, 2-5 PSAC East) jumped out to a 20-9 lead after the first period and led 43-27 at the half en route to their third straight victory.

Hines-Allen came into the game with 990 career-points, needing just 10 to reach the 1,000 points for her career, scored nine points in the first half to raise her total to 999 as the teams went to the break.

The senior from Montclair, New Jersey, took a pass from Adriene Small in for a layup with 8:30 left in the third to surpass 1,000 points for her career.

Hines-Allen has been a consistent scorer since she stepped on to the court at Cheyney averaging over 11.30 points per game in each season with a career-best of 12.44 a season ago. She currently has a 12.04 career average and has also amassed over 500 rebounds in 84 games played .

The Wolves are off until Sunday Jan. 3, 2016 when they host Indiana University of Pennsylvania out of the PSAC West to open the new-year.
