EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. Jr. Rafiq Marshall scored a game-high 22 points to lead Cheyney University, but host East Stroudsburg jumped out to an early lead and came away with a 126-60 victory Wednesday night in PSAC East action inside Koehler Fieldhouse.
The Wolves (2-19, 2-14 PSAC E) also received a career-high tying nine points from Fr. Jalen Branch. Rasheed Moore led a balanced Warriors (15-6, 13-3 PSAC E) attack with 17 points.
Marshall went 7-of-13 (.538) from the field 3-for-4 (.750) from three-point range and 5-of-6 (.833) from the free-throw line. He also led the Wolves with six rebounds and four assists.
Branch, who also had scored nine points in the first meeting with the Warriors on Dec. 30 inside Cope Hall grabbed three rebounds and was credited with a blocked shot. Jr. Imir Bailey came off the bench to score eight points and Jr. Khaalis Carter added seven.
The Wolves continued their excellent free-throw shooting connecting on 19-24 (.792) from the line and made 5-11 (.455) from beyond the arc.
Cheyney heads to Mansfield on Saturday afternoon for a 3:00 P.m. tipoff with the Mounties. Mansfield captured the first meeting 87-73 inside Cope Hall on Jan. 6.
