SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Jr. Rafiq Marshall led Cheyney men's basketball with 17 points seven rebounds and six assists, but host Shippensburg went 12-of-18 on three-point shots to pull away for a 97-64 victory Saturday afternoon inside Heiges Field House.
The Wolves (2-24, 2-19 PSAC E) fell behind 40-20 late in the first half, when it went on a 12-0 run to pull within eight at 42-32 early in the second half. Dustin Sleva led all-players with 26 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Raiders (22-3, 18-3 PSAC E).
After trailing by 20 points with 3:36 left in the first half, Marshall connected from downtown to ignite a 9-0 run to end the first half. Jr. Issac Bittle, scored from Marshall, Marshall added a layup, then Bittle closed the scoring in the first half to make it a 40-29 game after 20 minutes.
Sr. Basir Fulmore started the second half with a three-pointer to cut the lead down to eight. The teams exchanged baskets, then the Raiders took control with a 13-point run, which was started with five points from Sleva.
R-Jr. Imir Bailey and So. Amir Boney each scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds and Jr. Olin Ugo came off the bench to score seven points and grab seven rebounds to tie Marshall for team high.
???????Cheyney will finish the season on Saturday Feb. 25 when it hosts Millersville with the tipoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Senior Day inside Alfred Cope Hall.
The Wolves will honor three players: Imir Bailey, Khaalis Carter and Basir Fulmore, prior to the game in a pre-game ceremony scheduled to begin at 12:45.
