Marlon Herring grabbed a career-high 21 rebounds, Jr.
TaKayla Ellis moved into second-place all-time in three-pointers made and scored 21 points to lead the Cheyney University women's basketball team to a 58-54 victory over visiting West Chester University Wednesday night in PSAC East action inside Cope Hall.
The Lady Wolves (4-15, 4-14 PSAC E) defeated the Golden Rams (9-12, 9-8 PSAC E) for the first time since 2008 a span of 20 games.
West Chester used a 15-7 advantage in the second quarter to take a 27-17 lead into the locker room after 20 minutes.
Herring pulled down 11 first half rebounds, but Cheyney made just 6-of-27 (.222) from the field and committed 15 turnovers.
The Golden Rams built the lead to 31-19 with 8:19 to play in the third, the Lady Wolves responded with an 21-4 run to take a 40-35 heading to the fourth.

Adriene Small started the run with a layup from Herring, Ellis then went on a personal seven point run, which was capped with a three-pointer to move into second place all-time in CU history.

Briana Hedgepeth picked off a pass and converted a layup, then after a Golden Rams basket mad it 35-30, the Wolves closed the quarter with the final ten points.
Herring scored three points, then Sr.
Taschell Phillips connected from downtown to give Cheyney its first lead since it took a 4-2 advantage. A free-throw by Phillips and another three-pointer from Ellis put Lady Wolves up 40-35 after 30 minutes.
The Golden Rams tied the game at 44-44, when Ellis took over with back to back layups to give the Wolves the lead for good. The junior scored the next eight Cheyney points to make it a 52-47 contest with 2:18 remaining.
Cheyney went 6-of-8 from the line down the stretch to keep the advantage and come away with the 58-54 victory.
Ellis scored 20 second half points including two from beyond the arc to increase her career total to 103, to break a tie with Latoya
Showell (2002-05) and Monica Haynes (1991-95) for second and only trail Martina Randall, who made 108 shots from beyond the arc from 2005-09.
Phillips added 12 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists, Herring closed with nine points to go with 21 rebounds
The Wolves went 13-26 (.500) from the field in the second half and committed only eight second half turnovers.
Cheyney returns to action on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Kutztown University in a pivotal PSAC East contest with the tipoff scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. inside Cope Hall.
