WEST CHESTER, Pa. –Yasmine Dorrielan and Ja'la Walker each recorded double-doubles for Cheyney University, but West Chester University used an 18-0 run to start the fourth quarter to secure a 77-72 victory as the road team inside Hollinger Fieldhouse on the West Chester campus In a new chapter between the crosstown rivals.
Dorrielan scored a game and Cheyney career-high 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Wolves 3-12, 1-8 PSAC E) trailed by only two points 53-51 heading to the fourth.
Katherine Fisher paced the Golden Rams 10-4, 7-3 PSAC E) with 19 points and six rebounds.
The game was tied at 15-15 after the first quarter and 29-29 at the half, the final tie of the game came at 51-51 with :08 left in the third on a TaKayla Ellis layup.
West Chester made two free-throws to close out the third and the Wolves were held scoreless until the 3:00 minute mark of the final period as the Golden Rams built a 71-51 advantage.
Walker collected her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Ellis added 11 points with five rebounds and a team-high three assists. Marlon Herring finished with eight points and seven rebounds.
The Wolves are back in PSAC East action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Shippensburg for a 1:00 PM tipoff with the Raiders.
