BOWIE, Md. – Sr. Chelsea Hutson led a balanced Cheyney attack with 12 kills as the Wolves volleyball team tasted victory, for the first time on the road this season with a 3-0 win, at HBCU rival Bowie State, Tuesday night inside A.C. Jordan Arena.
The Wolves (3-15) hit a season-best .282 with 29 kills and only seven errors in 78 attacks. Breiona Garrison led the Bulldogs (3-17) with eight kills.
So. Virshawna Campbell added eight kills and nine digs for the Wolves who swept the season series, over Bowie State, for the first time since 2013, (25-14, 25-19, 25-9).
Freshman setters' Mary Flores and Bryanna Taylor each reached double figures in assists with 12 and 10 respectively. Flores was also credited with four aces, while Sr. Akia Harris recorded a game-high six aces and 13 assists.
Cheyney returns to PSAC action this weekend with a Friday match at East Stroudsburg at 7:00 PM and a 1:00 PM match-up at Kutztown on Saturday.
