CHEYNEY, Pa. – Sr. Chelsea Hutson recorded a team-high eight kills, and added eight digs, but visiting Kutztown University erased an early deficit in the first set en route to a 3-0 victory Friday night inside Alfred Cope Hall.
The Wolves (3-23, 0-17 PSAC SE) scored the first three points of the match and bolted out to a 10-4 advantage in the first set. The Golden Bears (6-22, 3-14 PSAC SE) took its first lead of the match at 13-12.
The teams traded scores and Cheyney trailed by only a 21-19 score, but Kutztown would capture the final four points to take the opening set 25-19.
The second set featured a series of runs, which was culminated by the Golden Bears turning a 21-11 lead into a 25-13 victory. Kutztown then went on to a 25-8 victory in the final set.
Fr. Bryanna Taylor recorded 16 assists, which is a season and career-high in PSAC action for the rookie, and collected nine digs. Sr. Akia Harris led all players with 19 digs.
So. Virshawna Campbell chipped in with six kills and four digs and So. Alaiya Cave recorded two solo blocks and three kills.
East Stroudsburg will visit Cope Hall in the season finale on Saturday. Cheyney will honor its three Seniors': Hutson, Harris and Nishay Carrier before the match, with Senior Day festivities scheduled at 1:00 PM.
