CALIFORNIA, PA – The Cheyney University women's volleyball team traveled west for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover match to open the league season against California University of Pa., Friday night.
The Wolves (1-6, 0-1), who will be part of the Southeast Division, as the PSAC has moved to four-divisions in the 2016 season, fell behind early in each of the first two sets and were never able to find their footing in dropping the first two sets.
The Vulcans (8-3, 1-0), who are in the Southwest Division, led by only a 7-6 score as Cheyney was hanging tight early in the third, but California used a 14-3 burst to capture the match three sets to zero.
Akia Harris led the Wolves with 11 digs,
Virshawna Campbell had nine digs and
Chelsea Hutson added eight.
Cheyney is action again on Saturday afternoon when it takes on another Southwest Division foe in Seton Hill University (9-4, 1-0), at 1:00 p.m. in Greensburg, Pa.
