Cristina Jordan recorded her first career double double but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Wolves fell 63-41 to California (PA). Jordan netted season high 14 points while grabbing 11 rebounds for Cheyney (0-3:0-2). Cal improves to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
The Vulcans were led by Emma Mahady. The sophomore forward from Australia scored 14 points while team mates Stephanie Michael and Irina Kukolj added 11 apiece.
Cal led the from wire to wire but the Lady Wolves defense kept them close through most of the first half. With Cal leading 21-15, the Vulcans went on a 12-2 run late in the first half to break the game open. The Lady Wolves found themselves down 12 at intermission but would not get any closer in the second half. A 13-4 run to open the second half was all Cal needed to put the game out of reach.
Cheyney will continue their home stand on Wednesday night against the University of the Sciences.
