Box Score

Cheyney played inspired basketball during the first half but could not put together a final 20 minutes falling 61-51 to Kutztown (8-4:20-6) in Women’s PSAC basketball action. The loss drops Cheyney to 0-12 in the conference and 0-15 overall.

Kyra Hines-Allen paced Cheyney with 18 points while team mate Lachelle Miller chipped in 11.

The Golden Bears were led by Advia Campbell’s 15 points. Natalya Lee and Alyssa Bonenberger added 12 and 11 respectively. All of Bonenberger’s points were from the foul line where she was 11-2 on the night. Kutztown scored 26 from the charity stripe compared to nine by the Lady Wolves.

The first half was a see-saw battle with neither squad owning more than a five point advantage. Kutztown scored the final two points of the first half and the first four points of the second half to take the game’s biggest lead six, 26-20 three minutes into the final period. The Lady Wolves battled back and took a three point lead at the eight minute mark after Hines-Allen drained a pair of free throws. However, a 12-0 run by the Golden Bears over the next 2:50 turned the three point deficit into a nine point advantage. A Tamara Russell lay-up cut the lead to five but that would be as close as Cheyney would get.

Cheyney will travel to Mansfield on Saturday for a 1:00 pm tip against the Mountaineers.
