Box Score Four Lady Wolves tallied double figures but it wasn't enough as Cheyney (1-10) fell 79-65 to Mercyhurst (3-9). Lachelle Miller came off the bench to score 17 while team mates Amber Grenwright, Kia Whitley Duncan and Cristina Jordan added 14, 12 and 10 points respectively.
With the game tied at 2, the Lakers went on a 14-3 run to take an 11 point advantage six minutes into the contest. Over the next ten minutes the Lady Wolves battled back to trim the deficit to 29-27. Still nursing a two point lead, Mercyhurst outscored Cheyney 10-4 in the final minutes of the first half to take a 41-33 lead into the locker room.
Mercyhurst scored the first seven points of the second half to push the advantage to 15. However, the Lady Wolves were once again able to battle back. Cheyney used a 7-0 run of their own to trim the lead to six, 62-56 with just over five minutes to play. Unfortunately, Cheyney would not be able to get any closer down the stretch.
The Lakers were led by Adrienne Kloecker and Alayna White. The duo combined for 41 points.
Cheyney is back in action Sunday afternoon against Edinboro. The contest was originally scheduled to be played this past Friday but was rescheduled to Sunday after a snow storm dropped more than six inches in southeast, Pa. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 pm.
