Box Score

Kyra Hines-Allen recorded her third double double of the season scoring 14 points while grabbing 13 rebounds in a 57-52 loss to Mercyhurst (3-8:1-5).

The Cheyney (1-9:1-4) reserves dominated the Mercyhurst reserves as the Lady Wolves outscored their opponents 23-9 only to be denied the victory.

"I thought we gave a consistent effort for 40 minutes," commented Coach Adams.  "If we do a better job from the foul line I think we have a different outcome tonight."

The first half was nip and tuck with the Lakers owning a lead that never got above five points before settling on a three point, 31-28, advantage at intermission.  Early in the second half, the Lakers owned an eight point lead but Cheyney battled back, going on an 8-0 to tie the game at 36.  The Lady Wolves continued the run with five more unanswered points to give Cheyney a 41-36 lead midway through the second half.  The Lakers immediately answered with a 10-1 run of their own to take a 46-42 with 5:23 to play.  CU's Amber Genwright tallied a traditional three point play to cut the lead to one.  However, Mercyhurst responded with an 8-0 run to give the Lakers their biggest lead of the night, nine points (54-45) with just under three minutes to play.  Mercyhurst's Natalie Piaggesi secured the victory down the stretch scoring eight of her team's final nine points, all from the foul line.  On the night, Piaggesi was a perfect 12-12 from the charity stripe.  She led the Lakers with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lady Wolves return home on Saturday to face Gannon.  Tip-off is 1:00 pm in Cope Hall.
