Box Score Cheyney fell to Kutztown 74-61 in an early season PSAC women's conference game. Amber Genwright came off the bench to spark Cheyney with 12 points while Aerie DeJesus and Kia Whitely-Duncan added 11 apiece.
The Lady Wolves (1-6:1-2) were giving Kutztown (3-2:2-1) all they could handle the first fourteen minutes of the contest. During the first 14 minutes, the lead changed hands six times with neither team owning more than a five point advantage. But the Golden Bears went on a 17-2 run to close the half and take a 44-30 lead into the locker room.
A 6-2 Golden Bear run to start the second half extended the led to 20. Cheyney however would not make it easy for Kutztown. The Lady Wolves went on a 16-5 run of their own to bring the deficit down to nine (57-48) midway through the second half. However, KU answered right back with a 9-0 run to push the lead back to double figures where it stayed the remainder of the game.
The Lady Wolves attempted 15 more shots than Kutztown in the second half but they could not find the mark as Cheyney converted only 12 of 38 attempts in the final 20 minutes.
Advia Campbell paced Kutztown (3-2:2-1) with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Cheyney will step out of league play on Saturday as the Lady Wolves host Lincoln in the Battle of the Firsts. It is Cheyney's only Saturday night home game of the season. The Lady Wolves and Lions tip-off at 5:30 PM in Cope Hall.
