Valiant Second Half Effort Falls Short

Taschell Phillips
Box Score

Taschell Phillips netted 13 points and Kyra Hines-Allen posted another double double scoring 12 points while grabbing 12 rebounds but Cheyney (3-13:3-8) came out on a 61-56 decision against East Stroudsburg (6-9:5-6).  It was Warriors coach Lynn Ramage debut and his Lady Warriors didn't disappoint.
East Stroudsburg built up a 13 point advantage at half (35-22) thanks in part to the poor shooting of the Lady Wolves.   However in the second half, Cheyney was able to put a scare into ESU but the valiant comeback fell short.

Midway through the second half the Lady Warriors were able to stretch the lead to 19, 56-37.  Then the Lady Wolves comeback began.  Cheyney went on an 18-1 run to cut the lead to two, 57-55 with just under three minutes to play.  However, the Lady Warriors closed out the contest on scoring the next four points.  Amber Genwright added a late free throw for the final margin.

Jessica Martin paced the Lady Warriors with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Cheyney returns to action on Saturday afternoon at Lock Haven.
