Box Score

Taschell Phillips came off the bench to pace Cheyney (2-11:2-6) with a season high 23 points but it was not enough as Pitt-Johnstown (8-5:5-4) prevailed 87-79 in a PSAC women's basketball contest.  Team mates Kyra Hines-Allen, Aerie DeJesus and TaKayla Ellis added 14, 13 and 10 points respectively.

Phillips scored 18 of her points in the first half.  The Lady Cats jumped out to a 17-8 lead thanks in part to a full court press that disrupted the Lady Wolves.  Cheyney eventually was able to battle back to tie the game at 33 after a DeJesus lay-up.  The Lady Wolves shot an impressive 65% from the field during the first 20 minutes and went into the locker room all tied at 46.  UPJ was equally impressive from behind the arc in the first half sinking 11 of 22 attempts.

While nursing a two point lead, 60-58, six minutes into the second half, UPJ went on a 13-2 run to take control and push the lead to a game high 13 points, 73-60 with 10:02 to play.  The Lady Wolves answered with a 12-2 run of their own to cut the deficit to three, 75-72 with 4:26 remaining.  However, the Lady Wolves were not able to get any closer in the waning minutes.

Kelsey Sleighter led the Lady Cats with 21 points including seven three-pointers.

Cheyney is back in action on Wednesday at IUP.
