WEST POINT, N.Y. -
Brandon Joyner set the all-time Cheyney University record in the high jump on Thursday at the United States Army at West Point Twilight Meet held inside Shea Stadium.
Joyner who is the son of a retired Army Veteran, cleared 2.08m/ 6'10" to break the previous outdoor mark of 2.05m/6'8.75" from Conrad Myers, which had stood since 1976. Joyner also toped the all-time Cheyney mark of 2.06m/6'9" by
Isaiah Galloway at the 2018 PSAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 25.
The two joined coach Jalen Ramsey in the competition, with Ramsey taking the title on misses and matching the clearance of Joyner who placed third on misses.
Jowan Lewis-Kearse won the triple jump event, but was unable to improve on his NCAA Provisional qualifying distance of 14.99m/49'2.25". Lewis-Kearse who will be graduating on Saturday, will head to Princeton, N.J. for the IC4A/ECAC Track and Field Championships,on Sunday in an attempt to qualify for the NCAA Division II Championships.
